This Sunday, in addition to being Valentine's Day, is Chinese New Year. To celebrate, chef and food writer Ching-He Huang shares her favorite Chinese New Year traditions, tips for a perfect party, and a delicious stir-fry recipe to help you ring in the year of the Tiger in style.

I love Chinese New Year. It is an important time for Chinese families to get together to have a “reunion dinner” or “Tuan Yuan Fan”.

For many families in China and around the world, it is the sometimes the only occasion during a whole year where they get a chance to see the entire family together.

This tradition has been going on for centuries. In the Chinese calendar, Chinese New Year is by far the most important and longest festival in Chinese history.

This year it is the year 4708 in the Chinese calendar – a celebration that is over four thousand years old.

On such a special occasion, mothers and grandmothers make sure that the New Year feast is one that will be remembered and reminisced over for the rest of the year!
