Samantha Gordan, 41, from London, has suffered from depression for eight years. Currently unemployed, Samantha was working as a nanny when she had a breakdown, which lead to her diagnosis.

“I’ve got nothing to be ashamed of,” she said. “In the past I masked my depression so well that not even my own mother knew. I’ve come on leaps and bounds since then but I have good days and bad days; a bad day is me feeling down, miserable, can’t be bothered and if I don’t have to go out I won’t. On a good day I’ll go out."

Samantha's been through so much with her depression but she still has a postive message. "All you women out there with depression stand up for yourself." She says, "I never thought there would be a light at the end of the tunnel for me, and I say that with tears in my eyes.”

Samantha is extremely optimistic about the future, but is also realistic about her long road to recovery. “I know I could wake up feeling down tomorrow, but I’m learning to deal with it now.”
