Cancer: Dealing with emotions
Cancer is such an emotive word and the feelings it provokes are perhaps one of the most difficult aspects of dealing with the disease. Even if it's not you but someone close to you that's diagnosed with the illness the emotions that follow can be overwhelming.

The important thing to remember is that ‘there is no right or wrong way to feel. What is important is to find ways to help deal with your emotions’ says Jean Slocombe, Cancer Research UK’s information nurse.

But how do you cope emotionally when you or someone you care for is taken ill with cancer? When you just want to cry but you feel like you must a brave face on for everyone around you?

Anger, resentment, frustration and fear are just some of the common reactions to cancer. Making sense of your feelings at such a turbulent time can be difficult, so we’ve spoken to cancer experts and carers about how to deal with different feelings when you or someone you love is diagnosed with cancer.
