Be realistic with your plans

‘Although Christmas parties are good fun and it’s good to be sociable, feel able to say no if you are double-booked, or just simply too tired!

People will understand, as there are lots going-on over Christmas.

Be realistic with all your festive plans, and how long things will take, be it cooking, shopping, and parties.

Reward yourself with periodic breaks while you are working over the festive season.’ Koch says.

Treat yourself to a break

Koch advises:  ‘Take a break from the alcohol, not necessarily a total detox, but a healthy reduction.

Get some exercise, after being cooped-up at home, wrap-up warm and head for a long winter’s walk, a jog around the block, a game of football, tennis, or squash with your friends and family, it’s fun and sociable, and gets you working-up a sweat.

Simplify your nutrition; go for basic white meats and fish, cooked simply with fresh vegetables, and whole grain carbs for a while.

Give those rich, creamy sauces a bit of a break. And make sure you drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated, keep-up your metabolism and flush-away those toxins.’
