Combined Pill, coil, post-pregnancy contraception, contraceptive implant

Provided you're in good health and you're happy using any type of contraception, then the choice is yours. The standard combined Pill can be started from 21 days after you give birth and the same goes for the patch or ring (these contain the same drug in different forms). The mini-Pill (progestagen-only) can be taken from the 3rd day after you give birth onwards.

You could also go for a more long-term contraceptive if you want to space out your pregnancies over a few years, or you don't want any more children. You can have these inserted from the 3rd day after you give birth (4 weeks afterwards for the coil). They last a minimum of 3 years.
