'Degrassi' Comes to An End On TeenNick After 14 Seasons

Say it ain't so! The one and only Canadian show I've ever enjoyed is coming to a close. That is, TeenNick announced that the beloved TV series "Degrassi" will see its end on the channel after 14 seasons this summer. Beginning on July 20, the show will air its two-week finale event, including 12 final episodes and an hour-long special "It Goes There: Degrassi’s Most Talked About Moments," involving cast members, the show's creators and fans.

Whether or not Drake will be there is still a mystery, but hopefully the show's veteran cast members like Shane Kippel (Spinner Mason), Miriam McDonald (Emma Nelson), and Lauren Collins (Paige Michalchuk) will be there. Oh, and how could we ever forget the swoon-worthy Jake Epstein (Craig Manning)? Remember when he sang "Dust" to then-TV girlfriend Ashley Kerwin? Sigh.

However, while the show's finale will broadcast on July 31, Entertainment Weekly has reported that "Degrassi" isn't over for good. In fact, it was reported that the series still has future episodes in the works and will air on a different U.S. broadcaster. So don't start rioting... yet!

“For an incredible 14 seasons, ‘Degrassi’ has been a groundbreaking show tackling so many important topics that real teens face in their everyday lives,” Keith Dawkins, SVP and general manager, Nicktoons, TeenNick and Nick Jr. said. “In the final episodes on TeenNick and through the hour-long special and social activations, we hope to say goodbye in a way that is both fitting to the show and ‘Degrassi’s’ passionate fan base.”
