Purple beauty trends: purple make-up

Through nail varnishes, eyeshadows or lipsticks, get ready to adapt this color which is rich in ideas and emotions. At Helena Rubinstein, a caramel and lavender "flavored" collection was dreamed up with French pastry chef Pierre Hermé. This unexpected collaboration sends out an appetizing and elegant image. We don't know if Demi Moore, the brand's spokesmodel, has already indulged in the Delicious Beauty range but we're salivating at the thought!

At MAC, three New York-based artists were chosen to create works of art using the company's products. The result is clear: Richard Phillips, Maira Kalman and Marylin Minter all found purple irresistible in all its forms: lip liners, powders, nail varnishes, etc. And at Estée Lauder, Patrick Lorenz created a tantalizing multi-shimmer gloss in amethyst.

Purple make-up is easier to wear than you think. It enhances blue and green eyes and brings out fair complexions. If you're brown-haired, highlight your lips with a light gloss (avoid matte purple which can run and leave you looking like a vampire!). If you're blonde, emphasize your eyes with a smoky mauve or really dark eyeshadow.

To really vamp up grungy yet glamorous eyes, as seen at Vivienne Westwood, use
kohl liner to draw a thick line above your upper lashes and a slightly thiner line under the lower lashes with a feline flick at the corners. Smudge with your fingers to achieve 90's rock style without the grime. Finish with a sweep of purple shadow. Leave lips natural to avoid looking overdone.

Wear block color lipstick, as seen at Dsquared2 , with simple eyes. A slick of liquid liner and well-groomed brows is all you need.
