This is one Mancunian restaurant with a difference. Fun, interactive and delicious, the entertainment at Sapporo’s is almost as important as its food.
Diners are seated around a central area where chefs show off their unique and terrific skills in a “Teppanyaki theater”, chopping and frying on the centerpiece grill, and flinging food across the arena much to the amusement of patrons.
The menu is a scrumptious choice of Japanese starters and mains, but by far the most impressive part of the evening is watching the chefs juggle vegetables, catch eggs in their tall chef hats and flip knives, thankfully, with amazing precision.
Set in the popular Deansgate area, Sapporo’s prestigious location allows diners to explore the best bars in the area afterwards.
The atmosphere is electric with tables ‘whooping’ at different times as their chef shows off his talents. It doesn’t just make it perfect for a party but if you are in a couple, the interactive nature of Teppanyaki food will bond you and your neighbor like no other restaurant can.
And if you’re as bad as I am at catching food, then it’ll be one of the most amusing dining experiences you’ll have in the center.
