Shop: Omotesando Hills
If shopping is your thing, head to Omotesando Hills and plan to spend the day. The building itself is a sight to behold. Designed by esteemed architect Tadao Ando and opened in 2005, the elegant and vast structure is a place you could happily get lost in.
Located on a leafy avenue—the Japanese version of the Champs-Elysees—the sprawling complex of shops is a popular spot for shoppers of all ages and tastes. Here you’ll find all the name brands you might expect as well as wine bars and hair salons, cafes and restaurants. If cars are your thing, there’s even a Mercedes showroom.
Go in the morning, before it’s too crowded, and stay for lunch. After, make your way down the street to nearby Yoyogi Park and Meiji shrine for a little fresh air and culture.
