New Year's Eve 2009/10 in Berlin
You'll struggle to find a more festive, joyous atmosphere for New Year's Eve 2009/2010 than in Berlin. Not only has the German capital just celebrated 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall, but it's also home to the biggest open-air New Year's Eve party in the world!
As is custom, the festivities take place under the Brandenburg Gate, along Straße des 17. Juni (17th of June Street) and up to Siegessäule (the Victory Column). The 1.2 mile "Party Mile" is lined with stages, shows, music and gastronomy from all four corners of the world.
A spectacular fireworks display at 5pm is followed by partying right through to the early hours of the morning. To give you an idea of the scale of the party: last year, more than one million people celebrated the turn of the year under the Brandenburg Gate!
