Full Ragdale Hall review:

Arriving at Ragdale Hall is exactly like getting a big hug from an old friend. No matter how far you've traveled to reach them, whether it's your first visit or you're a regular, the staff at Ragdale Hall welcome you as if it's been years and they're just over-joyed to see you.

It might sound dreadfully cloying but it's actually delightful. Their enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment at putting their guests at ease is a breath of fresh air, a big mug of tea on a cold day, a warm fluffy towel as you step out of the shower, even.

Pulling up to the grand hall we abandoned our car and stepped out into the crunchy snow covered car park. The receptionists gave us a tag to fill out the details of our car so they could valet park it and noting my lost expression, laughed. "Don't worry, no-one knows their registration or model of their car. Just tell us the color and the make."

Ragdale Hall may be gorgeous and grandiose but the welcome is unpretentious and tension-free. Any fears you may have that it'll be stuffy and you'll make some kind of awful spa faux pas can be completely left at the gate.

Our bags were taken care of and unhampered we were shown through to the atrium cafe where steaming hot complimentary arrival drinks were served. Relaxation commences immediately at Ragdale Hall.

Ragdale Hall - What to expect

Ragdale Hall boasts 52 spa rooms, 91 bedrooms (economy through to suites - two of which have been recently redesigned) and approximately 11 acres of land.

At first it seems like a labyrinth but with each twist and turn you discover something new and inviting. Another nook or cranny to curl up in. A soft sofa calling your name, tempting you into blissed out oblivion.

The general relaxed ambiance of Ragdale Hall is amplified by their strict dress code: wear whatever you're comfortable in.

You have to be wearing something but even in the dining hall, dolled-up guests sit with their terry-towel dressing gown clad friends. It's far from the yummy mummy designer tracksuits of some stuffier spas and it's all the better for it.
