MDG 1: End hunger

Goal: End hunger and extreme poverty

Targets to be met by 2015:

  • Halve the proportion of people whose income is less than one dollar a day
  • Achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all, including women and young people.
  • Halve the proportion of people who suffer from hunger.
What has been achieved?
New figures from the UN reveal that the number of hungry people in the world has dropped under the one billion mark. But 925 million people are still going hungry and more needs to be done.
