Claudia Barilà & One Drop: the fight for access to water

"Water for all, all for water!" this is the slogan with which Guy Laliberté presents his NGO, ONE DROP, which fights against poverty by giving access to water. Will water one day be accessible to everyone and in sufficient quantities? It's a burning question that raised a lot of discussions during the latest World Water Forum that took place in Marseille.

For quality water to be accessible to everyone in sufficient quantity, today and tomorrow, it requires resources and commitments. Within this organization, one woman, Claudia Barilà, has made it her mission to make water accessible to everyone. Wewomen spoke to her, and discovered a person who's overflowing with energy and humanism.

"Guy is a sensitive person. With One Drop, he wanted to create a movement that reaches out to people," begins Claudia Barilà. Beautiful Claudia, it's pointless trying to explain why, it's nothing to do with her portfolio of magazine covers, we already know that she exceeds conventional standards.

And just through her smile, her uniqueness and her enthusiasm to speak to us about one of the causes that means so much to her, we know already that we're going to spend a pleasant moment together and that the conversation will be human, interspersed with wild laughter, but also with frustration, especially when the subject turns to hygiene and her recent trip to India...

But returning to Guy (because Guy is in fact her partner), we're talking about Guy Laliberté, yes Mr Cirque du Soleil, whose success story reminds us how proud we are that he's "one of ours". With this man and his multiple visions, Claudia Barilà didn't think twice about getting involved 5 years ago in One Drop, an organization that fights against poverty by providing access to water. "The aim is to increase people's awareness and make a difference. And we use social art to spread the message," she explains.
