Many top brands have been quick to cotton onto Second Life and the possibilities it offers for reaching out to a huge amount of people. But in today's fast-moving world, they need to innovate and reinvent themselves constantly if they want to offer consumers something really different. Second Life, along with a bit of imaginative genius, has given birth to a whole new style of alternative marketing.

Fashion in Second Life
Swanky Californian brand American Apparel was one of the first fashion houses to open a shop in the virtual world of SL. On the island of Lerappa, fashionistas can purchase their chic casual wear with the famous American Apparel logo.  Lacoste went one better by offering aspiring models the chance to audition for a photoshoot! L'Oréal organized a beauty contest last March with a Natural Glamour theme to find the most beautiful woman on Second Life. And the ever-imaginative Jean-Paul Gaultier had a brainwave for the launch of his new men's fragrance Fleur du Mâle - he organized a strictly VIP-only garden party on Second Life!
