Expert careers advice - Planning your career

Good at managing budgets? Always coming up with creative solutions? Great at co-ordinating projects? Knowing what your skills are is essential when considering your career options.

What are you good at?

Office Angels, managing director David Chubb suggests thinking about:

Ask yourself
  1. What do people say you're good at?
  2. What do people always ask you to do?
  3. What are you good at?
  4. What skills do you enjoy using?"

Asking yourself these questions should identify your working style and key skills.

Thinking about your achievements and proudest career moments should also reveal what you're best at.

Online skills tests are another great way to identify your strong points. Next Step offer sound (and free) careers advice and skills assessments - and are a great place to start.
