Lila: "I made the decision to stop as part of a pact with my mates: we all decided to stop on New Year's Day. I prepared everything, bought my patches, took advice from my doctor and read lots of stuff about giving up.
I don't know if I was just lucky, but I never really missed smoking all that much. It actually got rid of the stress of being addicted, like having to go out in the middle of the night in a panic to find somewhere open to buy cigarettes. My finances have also improved loads, but the most surprising thing was that I didn't put on any weight. I carried on eating healthily as usual, lots of fruit and veg, water, grilled and steamed food, and I really got into sport, which was fantastic for me. Now I play tennis regularly and bike to work every day. My body feels firmer and more toned and I've got my breath back!"
