Urinary Tract Infections

Urinary tract infections are common in women, with 25-30% of us between the ages of 20-40 years of age experiencing them.

Unlucky for us, 40% of patients suffering from a urinary tract infection will have a recurrence within a year, as 80% of infections are caused by the bacterium E.Coli.

Symptoms to watch-out for include an increase in urinary frequency, and a nasty, burning or stinging sensation when weeing. These symptoms may also be accompanied by abdominal pains or high temperatures.

If left untreated, a urinary tract infection such as cystitis can turn in to a severe infection called Pyelonephritis.

The good news is most urinary tract infections can be treated successfully with a course of antibiotics, so visit your local GP if you are suffering from any of the above symptoms, your body will thank you for it!

Ease your symptoms:

Drink plenty of water.
Sugary, alcoholic and caffeinated drinks can make it worse so stick to the clear stuff.
Cranberry juice can help as can over-the-counter solutions.
