The emergence of Power Hair
The emergence of Power Hair was inevitable: recent seasons have been dominated by either luscious flowing locks or edgier unflattering looks, so a hair trend suited for sophisticated chic women had to be somewhere in the pipeline. Although it is a rarity for more practical looks to be celebrated in the fashion industry, Power Hair has been pushed to the fore thanks to the rise of recession chic. Alber Elbaz, creative director of Lanvin has said: “I’d rather be a fashion realist” and that realism was not only evoked in the sharp cut of his coat dresses on the catwalk but also in the stern-looking ponytails on every model, accessorized with beautiful black feather slides.
