The Dilemma...

Dear Anna,

I love to get dressed up at New Year but my boyfriend's idea of a good NYE party is down the pub with his mates. It's his turn again this year and he's expressly asked me not to 'go all out'...

Specifically no skirts and no dresses! No impossible to walk-in sandals!

The dress code is smart casual but I don't really want to rock up in jeans and a jumper. How can I do smart/casual so I won't stand out but still look like I've made an effort in New Year style?

Please help!
