Eley Kishimoto and the Pattern Lab

Fighting against the gray skies, we left the sartorial triangle of the three main venues and went where more prints were guaranteed, the Eley Kishimoto shop in Kingly Court.

Pattern Lab was the design duo’s straight-talking a/w10 presentation with their press release reading:

‘This is not a fairy tale. There is no story, there is no scheme. This is a biannual report from our pattern lab.’

No nonsense, and we like it.

Giant kaleidoscopes featuring panels of print could be inspected (and spun if you were so inclined) before you ventured down the spiral staircase to see how the pattern fared on the garments.

You could go one of two ways: subtle with ‘shaded chevron’, a sort of faded pixel print or cute with a hungry squirrel brandishing a nut.

These of course sit among Eley Kishimtoto’s wide repertoire of color and pattern. Well, if Mother Nature isn’t willing, we can rely on the artificial rainbow that an Eley Kishimoto collection creates.
