It’s safe to say that if your brand name ends in ‘berry’, fashion followers will adore you. Blackberry, Burberry – two brands that are constantly on fashion wish lists - and Mulberry, the British leather goods brand that helped launch the term ‘IT bag’.
Mulberry had somewhat humble beginnings, growing from £500 that Roger Saul had received as a 21st birthday present.
Rejecting his father’s suggestion that he should sell Christmas trees or donkeys, Saul and his mother Joan set up shop in their garage in 1971 and the rest, as they say, is history.
