To get rid of toxins and reduce your calorie intake without compromising your health, follow our advice:
-Eat proteins. Fuel for our muscles and tissue, protein helps you to burn fat while holding onto muscle. They also fill you up, so try to include at least 150g of meat, fish or eggs at every meal.
-Stock up on veg. Fruit and vegetables provide your body with the vitamins and minerals it needs to function properly. Vegetables with diuretic (flushing) properties like leeks, lettuce and spinach will help to rid your body of toxins, so try to squeeze in at least 400g fruit and veg a day, whether cooked or raw. Aim for five to ten portions.
-Cut out sugar. Sugar stimulates insulin production and weight gain, including the sugars found in fruit and vegetables like pumpkin, carrots and beetroot.
-No more pulses. Allow yourself a single slice of wholemeal bread a day during your detox period.
-Hydrate yourself. Drink as much water as you can ( at least 1.5l a day). Green tea and some herbal teas, like nettle tea, can also help drainage.
-Think soup ! Low in calories, soup hydrates, drains toxins and recharges your body with vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Thick soups also keep you feeling full and aid digestion and are easy to make – just sauté the vegetables lightly for 15 mins, add stock, bring to boil and blend to thicken.
