With your meat and fish, serve either different salads, being sure to limit the dressing, or making your own with lemon juice, herbs and yogurt, or par-boil some vegetables and barbecue.

Keep bread to a slice or two, choose wholemeal or seeded bread, or pass it by altogether if you have a pasta, potato or rice salad to serve as well.
