Do I need to wash my Turkey?

Many people think washing your turkey will remove bacteria and make the bird safer to eat.

Unfortunately washing such a large piece of meat is a difficult thing to achieve and can result with splashes. These splashes can carry harmful bacteria from the bird and contaminate the rest of your kitchen without you even realizing.

Ensuring your turkey is properly defrosted and cooking it thoroughly will destroy any nasty bacteria so you do not need to wash it first.
