Epidurals and emergency Caesareans


In the event of complications (an unexpected Caesarean for example), an epidural prevents the need for pain relief to be administered intravenously.

Midwife Florence Charre explains:
"If, due to complications, an emergency Caesarean is required, it's better if the mother is already under epidural instead of having to be given an intravenous injection."
