Laurence Parisot: "the Lara Croft of reforms"

Laurence Parisot - work reforms

Laurence Parisot would like to reconcile people with industry and industry with people. To that end, she prefers to distance herself from principles even if it means surprising people.

During the financial crisis, she chose to join forces with the trade unions. The same ones she made life difficult for when relaxing legislation concerning the protection of jobs. "Freedom to think stops where the right to work starts," she replied at the time when questioned by employee representatives.

Today, she reaches her hand out to them, in an attempt to form a sort of social alliance and to be a step ahead of criticism aimed at managers' greed, by calling for an end to excesses. "Put an end to this "damn the consequences" attitude!" she declared.

Her beliefs are based on freedom of the economic market, flexibility of the labor market and a reduction of taxes: "If the company's a winner, everyone's a winner." And the more she's challenged, the more surprising her comeback: "Life and love are precarious," she states, "So why shouldn’t work abide by this same law?"
