Starting your own  label? Giving up a secure job as fashion designer?

For many women having their own business is both a dream and a nightmare.  Many are afraid to take the plunge.

Fashion designers Angelika and Alexa gave up their jobs at Prada and Strennesse to start their own label. Since then, they have been living a dream: they can finally create the fashion that they had been missing themselves. They are leading the lives they always wanted for themselves. They are an inspiration.

Women today want to be sexy and strong
Women today want to be both sexy and strong. They want to put on high heels and an elegant dress and still wear the trousers. Alexa and Angelika not only understand that, they live by it. It is their philosophy.

With their own label "The German Fräuleins," fashion designer Angelika and her business partner have revived the spirit of that German "fräulein" who conquered New York in the ‘50s with a mixture of beauty, cool elegance and, not least, remarkable independence and strength.

German Fräuleins: "Feel comfortable in your skin"
Today, 60 years on, there is another aspect to what they’re trying to do, they say. “We want the present-day woman to also feel comfortable in this role.”

With their unusual, comfortable designs, their intention is for their clothes to become permanent companions, "favorite pieces", in all situations of daily life, as the small label sewn into the collar explains. Figure-hugging without appearing tight, many of their designs are wonderful at subtly concealing a bit of a tummy, or hips that might be a little broad.
