Royal Romance | How to make a relationship last

Have your own space

The Queen and Prince Philip have always maintained separate interests. It's important that even though you're a couple, you still have time to do the things that you want to do for yourself.

Jenni says: "Compatible couples should have a complementary personality, but not necessarily identical interests.

"Most women don’t relish the thought of a Saturday down at the football pitch, and there is no harm in that – when a couple retains independent interests there is more to talk about.

"But there's a fine line between separate interests and separate lives so make sure to always come back together after your time apart and a happy and long-standing union lies ahead."
