One could say that John found the ideal mother in Lisa. He told us about his clashes with his parents, particularly his mother who is subjected to his violent father. Lisa is beautiful, intelligent and she isn't subjected to anybody else. She taught John a lot of things.
One can sense that in his childhood, John wanted to protect his suffering mother and that he wanted to take the place of his violent father. So in adulthood, finding a maternal substitute is ideal.
